Willow Weaving - Lampshade | Saturday 27th June - 10am till 3pm

Guided step-by-step, you’ll explore the traditional craft of willow weaving while creating a contemporary piece for your home that is both functional and beautifully unique. Using a selection of natural willows in different tones, textures and strengths, you’ll learn how to shape, weave and construct your lampshade using basketry techniques adapted especially for sculptural lighting.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll be introduced to a variety of weaving methods including pairing, randing and decorative weaves, allowing you to add your own creative flair and personal style to your finished piece. You’ll also learn how to select and prepare willow, understand the qualities of different varieties, and combine them to create both structure and visual interest within your design.

As the willow weaves together, your lampshade will begin to take shape into a stunning handcrafted feature that casts a soft, warm and organic glow when illuminated - bringing texture, character and a natural contemporary feel into your home.

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners as well as those looking to build on existing craft skills.
