Candle Care & Safety

Achieving a good burn...

When first lighting your candle, always make sure you have plenty of time to allow a 3-4 hour burn. This will make sure your wax pool extends the full circumference of your vessel before extinguishing and avoids tunnelling. Be sure to keep your wick trimmed to 1/4" for a cleaner, cooler burn.

How long will my candle burn?

The burn times of our candles vary. The vessels size, shape and positioning all play a part in the total burn. A candle makers rule of thumb is 6-7 hours per 28 grams of wax. Our crackle candles for example are 225g (net) and will burn for up to 55 hours!

How to remove the remaining wax to reuse your vessel...

Sit your vessel in warm water and wait for the wax to soften before scooping out. Wash your vessel with hot soapy water and your ready to upcycle.

Looking after your Crackle Candle...

When first lighting, always make sure you have plenty of time to allow a 3-4 hour burn. This will make sure your wax pool extends the full circumference of your vessel before extinguishing and avoids tunnelling. Keep your wick trimmed, this is easy with a wooden wick. Simply snap the burnt (dead) wood with your fingers making sure any debris is removed to maintain a clean burn.

How we make our candles...

All 'by HeatherMay' candles and home fragrance products are designed in house and we like to call them an experience. Each design is like a story. We choose our vessel which has to be recycled or recyclable and reusable. Then we blend the finest fragrance and essential oils to create a story-telling scent that compliments the vessel. Then we pour! Each candle is hand-poured in our studio using only 100% EcoSoya wax and natural wicks.

Are our waxes 100% natural?

YES! We only use 100% EcoSoya waxes. This is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. It is completely renewable, sustainable, eco-friendly and vegan.
