Pottery Christmas Gonks: Create Your Own Magical Gonk or Gnome
Join Vicky from Vicky Potting, an experienced hand-building ceramics tutor based in Derbyshire
Inspired by Scandinavian folklore, you will create your very own charming gonk or
gnome to add a unique, festive touch to your decor. Or create a Gnome for all year
round.
During this 3-hour workshop, we'll use a mix of slab-building and coiling techniques
to create your gonk from durable stoneware clay. You'll first form the cuddly, round
body from a cylinder, then add a tall, pointy hat from a cone.
Make It Your Own!
The real fun begins when you personalise your gonk. You can choose to add:
A Beard: Create a full, fluffy beard or an intricate curly one using coils.
Hair: If you chose to go for a female gonk add beautiful hair or braids. Add a necklace, buttons, or a flower to give your creation her own unique style.
Want to make your gonk light up? You can choose to cut shapes into the hat to allow
a light from a tealight to shine through. As we're using stoneware clay, your finished
gonk or gnome will be perfectly safe for either indoor or outdoor use. Samples will be shown, and all techniques will be clearly demonstrated and explained.

Suitability: All skill levels welcome!
Complexity Level: 2 - Introduction to clay, combining basic techniques and structural building. Suitable for beginners and those who feel a bit more confident or have patience.

Please note: The items cannot be taken home on the day. Your gonks will need to be dried, fired and glazed. They will be ready to collect at your convenience from the venue 3-4 weeks later.
