Magical Garden Gnome (or Festive Gonk)
Whether you want to celebrate the bright colours of summer or get a head start on
your Christmas decor, this workshop is for you! Join us for a creative three-hour
session where you'll craft a charming stoneware character inspired by Scandinavian
folklore.
Make it a Summer Garden Gnome...
Bring some magic to your flower beds or patio with a classic Garden Gnome. You can personalise your character with delightful garden details - think tiny watering cans, clay flowers, or even a sturdy pair of garden boots!
Or a Festive Christmas Gonk!
If you’re a 'Christmas-all-year' kind of person, you can choose to create a cosy festive Gonk instead. Whether you choose a garden gnome or a Christmas gonk, you can make a traditional male character or a female design featuring beautiful, braided hair and unique accessories like necklaces or buttons.
We will guide you step-by-step through the process using a mix of slab-building and coiling techniques. You'll first form the cuddly, round body from a cylinder and then add a tall, pointy hat from a hand-shaped cone.
You can choose to personalise your creation with a beard or hair: Create a full, fluffy
beard using coils, or add elegant braids and hair for a female design. You can also
decide to cut shapes into the hat to allow a tealight to shine through from the inside.
Because we are using durable stoneware clay, your finished creation will be perfectly
weatherproof and safe for use in the garden all year round.
Workshop Details: This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners and those
looking to build on their pottery skills. All materials and equipment are provided.
Duration: 3 hours
Suitability: All skill levels welcome!
Complexity Level: 2 - Introduction to clay, combining basic techniques and structural building. Suitable for beginners and those who feel a bit more confident or have patience.

Please note: The items cannot be taken home on the day. Your gonks will need to be dried, fired and glazed. They will be ready to collect at your convenience from the venue 2-3 weeks later.
