Starry Night - A Magical Winter Watercolour Workshop with local landscape artist Kelly Herrick

Step into a little winter magic and create your own enchanting Starry Night in watercolour.

In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll be guided through a range of beautiful watercolour techniques to create a dreamy winter-inspired scene filled with soft washes, snowy textures and a wonderfully atmospheric starry sky.

You’ll discover how to bring watercolour to life using blending, wet-on-wet techniques, salt and splattering, experimenting with the way the paint moves and mingles to create those gorgeous, slightly unpredictable effects that make watercolour so special.

Your tutor Kelly will guide you step-by-step as you build your painting, from the soft wintery background through to the finer details and finishing touches. There’s plenty of room to add your own personality too - no two Starry Nights need to look the same.

As well as creating a beautiful finished painting to take home and display, you’ll use your new skills to create your very own original Christmas card - a lovely little handmade extra to keep or send to someone special.

No previous painting experience is needed. Come along, switch off for a few hours and enjoy a wonderfully calming evening of paint, stars, winter magic, cuppas and cake.

Meet the tutor: Kelly is a Derbyshire-based landscape artist. Her approach to art is all about creativity, expression, confidence, and letting go of perfection.

Kelly's workshops focus on helping people discover their own creative voice through colour, texture, mark-making, and learning to paint with feeling rather than pressure. Her teaching style is warm, encouraging, and beginner-friendly, making art feel accessible, exciting, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone.
